Halliwell buys NZ property specialist as regional push continues

US-based Halliwell has acquired New Zealand property and building consultancy Maynard Marks.

Founded in 2008, Maynard Marks has offices in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch, and more than 60 specialists nationwide.

Loss consultant Halliwell’s Asia-Pacific MD Colin Taylor says the purchase is a “highly complementary addition to our growing multidisciplinary offering in the Asia Pacific region”.

He says Maynard Marks’ “strong reputation, depth of technical expertise and market-leading capabilities ... significantly strengthen our presence in New Zealand and enhance the services we can provide to clients throughout the region”.

Maynard Marks provides building and quantity surveying, structural engineering, architectural design, project management, environmental and asbestos consulting services to property owners, insurers, government, developers and contractors.

It will continue to be led by directors Stuart Wilson, Mark Powell, John Rennie and Daniel Kennett, and will later transition to the Halliwell brand.

McLarens-owned Halliwell expanded to Australia and New Zealand in 2023 and has since acquired Quintons, ExcelPlas, Imparta Engineers and du Chateau Chun.

It works with insurers, brokers and law firms on risk determination, loss investigation, restoration and litigation.
