Halliwell buys building claim experts

US-based Halliwell has made two acquisitions in Australia, buying Imparta Engineers and du Chateau Chun.

Halliwell, owned by McLarens, was founded in 1954 and provides loss consulting services worldwide. It expanded to Australia and New Zealand in 2023 by buying Fire Research Group and GKA Investigations Group.

Imparta specialises in the engineering and building aspects of insurance claims, working with major insurers, builders and lawyers on diagnostic investigation and causation reporting, structural assessment, detailed repair documentation and liability claims.

It will now introduce civil/structural and geotechnical engineering as part of Halliwell.

Du Chateau Chun is a specialist building regulation, code and compliance advisory business. Its team of seven will “fill a current gap in Halliwell’s Asia-Pacific comprehensive solution across the forensic and engineering sciences and construction services”.

The two businesses will operate under their own brands for six months, with a view to later adopting the Halliwell brand.

They will be led by their founding directors, who will report to Halliwell Asia-Pacific MD Colin Taylor.

“We have a clear strategy for building a multidisciplinary offering in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region,” Mr Taylor said.

“Both firms share our focus on offering specialist, technical consulting services to the insurance and related markets. These exciting developments will create new growth opportunities for us ... and further enhance our competitive position in the region.”
