CEOs raise thousands through Dare to Cure

Steadfast-owned CHU Underwriting Agencies CEO Kimberley Jonsson and her team have raised more than $51,000 for CEO Dare to Cure, an annual fundraiser organised by the Children’s Cancer Institute.

The CHU team joined Steadfast CEO Robert Kelly and other industry bosses including Gallagher Australia CEO Sarah Lyons and Crawford Australia President Tim Jarman, who also led a group of his colleagues in this year’s charity event.

Ms Jonsson chose to do the Snake Bath challenge, CFO and COO James Makin opted for the Walk on Hot Coals and Broken Glass test and Head of Claims David Gow selected Bugs for Breakfast.

The other four challenges available to Dare to Cure participants are Extreme Fitness, Athlete’s Ice Bath, Brave Shave and Walk the Plank, a virtual reality challenge set on an 80-storey skyscraper.

CHU also held its own events in its offices nationally to raise money for Dare to Cure. One of its employees ate a whole habanero chilli, another drank a whole bottle of tabasco and another ate a bunch of coriander.

Mr Kelly, who went through the Walk the Plank challenge on Friday in Sydney, raised in excess of $101,000 from his supporters – the largest total among all individual participants this year.

Ms Lyons, whose supporters chipped in more than $18,000, did the Walking on Fire and Glass challenge.

The Crawford team went for the Extreme Fitness test and raised about $17,212.

Funds raised for CEO Dare to Cure will go towards medical research for children’s cancer.
