A golf day sponsored by Envest, Chubb, Steadfast and CGU aims to raise more than $100,000 for Lifeline International.

A Round with Purpose at Melbourne’s Peninsula Kingswood club on November 9 will feature former PGA Tour professional Nick O’Hern joining players, and will be hosted by Community Broker Network chairman Gary Seymour. 

“Our industry is at its best when we come together for a cause that strengthens communities and saves lives,” Mr Seymour said.

“The generosity shown by colleagues and partners reminds me that every contribution helps ensure someone, somewhere, has access to support when they need it most.” 

Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15-44, and men account for about three-quarters of the toll. For every death, an estimated 20-plus people attempt suicide. 

Lifeline says the insurance industry is demonstrating national leadership and commitment to mental health and crisis support.  

“It is inspiring to see an industry coming together to recognise suicide as a cause that tragically touches families and global communities, and Lifeline International is enormously grateful for the support,” CEO Thilini Perera said.

“Funds raised will unlock crisis helpline capacity and impact, reaching people in need and saving lives.” 

Money raised will aid training and wellbeing support for crisis staff and volunteers, improved digital systems and community outreach.
