New normal: Gallagher produces guide to flexible working

Gallagher Bassett has produced a guide to help businesses implement flexible working arrangements in response to the virus disruption.

Calling the present environment a “new normal”, the guide outlines a number of areas that should be taken into consideration as companies prepare employees for new workplace requirements.

It warns businesses that messages must be communicated clearly, and companies will need to also look into training for managers, leverage on new technologies and invest in health and safety consultancy services.

“Physical separation can often lead to breakdowns in communication,” the guide says. “Without regular check-ins and communication guidelines, misunderstandings tend to take place.

“To avoid this, companies need to establish routines and best practices for communications.

“Protocols for any video meetings should also be established. The right application will need to be chosen, and guidelines put in place to ensure equal participation.”
