Envest event backs childhood cancer charity

The Envest Group will host a charity ball in Brisbane to support Run DIPG, which was co-founded by Aviso Broking head of sales Luke Eagle.

Mr Eagle started the charity in 2018 after his niece Josie was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, a rare childhood brain cancer. She died aged four.

Envest has already raised more than $100,000 of a $150,000 target ahead of the black-tie ball at Tattersall’s Club in Queen Street on July 17.

The event, sponsored by Envest parent Ardonagh, will include an expert rugby panel discussing the British and Irish Lions’ upcoming clashes with the Wallabies.

Professor Matt Dun, a leading DIPG researcher, will deliver a keynote speech, and there will be a live auction and raffles.

Run DIPG has raised more than $9 million and Mr Eagle says there is an urgent need for more funding, research and advocacy.

“Giving back and making a real difference in our communities is at the heart of what we do, and this charity ball is an opportunity to celebrate that and more,” he said.

“But if you can’t make it ... I hope you’ll consider digging deep and making a donation. Every contribution brings us one step closer to making a difference for families who need it most.”
