Industry leaders unite for suicide prevention
Australia’s insurance leaders have raised $110,000 for LifeLine International and its mission to reduce deaths by suicide worldwide.
About 30 senior industry figures attended a lunch hosted by GSA Insurance executive chairman Paul Hines at Merivale’s Hotel Centennial in Woollahra.
Insurance luminaries in attendance included Steadfast co-founder and CEO Robert Kelly, Chubb country president Australia and New Zealand Ben Howell, AIG Australia CEO Kathleen Warden, Insurance Advisernet MD Shaun Standfield and Envest CEO Greg Mullins.
“It’s an honour to bring together our industry for this cause,” Mr Hines said.
The group committed to exploring strategic partnerships between the insurance sector and LifeLine International, and to positioning Australia’s insurance sector to help drive measurable global mental health impacts.
They will continue to discuss how Australian corporate leadership can drive measurable improvement.
More than 700,000 people die by suicide each year globally.
LifeLine International, founded in Sydney 60 years ago, now supports 200 crisis support centres across 30 countries.
