Finity principal wins US service award

Rade Musulin has won this year’s Jarvis Farley Service Award – an American Academy of Actuaries lifetime achievement honour.

Finity principal Mr Musulin has volunteered at the academy for more than 25 years, and he was named 2023 joint actuary of the year – alongside colleague Sharanjit Paddam – by Australia’s Actuaries Institute.

“Finity congratulates Rade on this outstanding achievement and his ongoing contribution to the actuarial profession globally,” the consultancy said.

Mr Musulin has given testimony to a US Senate committee on the effects of climate change on insurance markets and catastrophe responses, and he appeared at climate conferences COP27 in Egypt, COP28 in Dubai and COP29 in Azerbaijan.

“I was able to see and influence emerging practice areas before they became part of my employers’ businesses in areas such as catastrophe modelling, government natural disaster pools, terrorism insurance, community resilience and climate risk,” he said.

“It has been a privilege to contribute to the profession’s growth and to help advance the understanding of how actuarial science can support society’s resilience in the face of complex risks like climate change. I am honoured to receive this award.”
