Red Planet flies flag at fundraising air race
Premium funding group Red Planet Software is the naming rights sponsor for this year’s Outback Air Race in support of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
More than 40 planes will fly across regional Australia, making nine stops between Uluru and Carnarvon in WA from August 22 to September 8.
The race, held every three years, has raised more than $4 million since 1996, and organisers aim to bring in $750,000 this year.
Red Planet Software CEO Peter Williams, who is a licensed pilot, will take part in his fifth race.
“The Royal Flying Doctors and the insurance industry are both built on a simple promise: being there when it matters,” he said.
“At RPS, we develop software that helps insurers, brokers and funders deliver flexible solutions to their clients. Supporting the [flying doctors] allows us to extend that same spirit of protection and service beyond the business world and into the real lives of Australians.”
The carbon footprint of this year’s race will be offset under a partnership with Greenfleet, which plants native forests across the country.
