The National Insurance Brokers Association is accepting applications for two awards – claims broker and community excellence member of the year.

The claims broker award, sponsored by Sedgwick, was won last year by Aon’s Wendy Ford.

NIBA CEO Richard Klipin said: “Claims is an integral area where the value of broking comes to life for clients. Now in its fourth year, this award continues to showcase the incredible talent within our profession and the meaningful difference brokers make in people’s lives through claims expertise.

The community excellence award, sponsored by Liberty Specialty Markets, recognises exceptional effort helping clients or contributing to the community. Last year it went to North Queensland Insurance Brokers’ Kieran Volpe. 

“At the heart of every great broker is a commitment to helping others. From standing beside clients during their toughest moments after floods and natural disasters to giving back through local charities, events and community initiatives, brokers make a meaningful impact where it matters most,” Mr Klipin said.

Tomorrow, the SA/NT broker of the year will be revealed at a gala lunch at Adelaide Oval. In the running are Paula Eggers of Aviso Specialty, Shannan Gardner of Guardian Insurance Brokers, and Daniela Zaccone of Marsh. 

Contenders for SA/NT young broker of the year are Thomas Lawrie of Astute Insurance Services, Allysa Richards of Gallagher, and Irene Zhu of KeyInsure. 

The successful pair will compete for national honours against Victorian winners Jodi Sharman and Alyssa Sanfilippo, WA winners Brooke Tarr from KBI and Isabella Moran from Howden, plus four Aon brokers: Queensland winners Alison Morrissey and Emily Booth, and NSW/ACT winners Debbie Gibson and Laith Parissi. 

National awards will be announced at the NIBA Convention at RACV Royal Pines on the Gold Coast from October 18-20.
