Aon has confirmed James Harmer has joined the company to lead a team of 170 people as head of global and corporate.

insuranceNEWS.com.au revealed in August that Mr Harmer would join the broker from Marsh.

Aon declined to comment at that time but announced today that Mr Harmer has started work. He is based in Sydney and reports to Australian CEO Kevan Johnston.

Mr Harmer will execute a national strategy for the global and corporate operation and drive growth initiatives, Aon says. He will also work to advance analytical capabilities and champion the development of innovative, data-driven solutions. 

Mr Harmer was a broker with Aon in London from 2010 to 2013 and rejoins the company after 11 years at Marsh, most recently as MD and risk management leader for NSW.
