QBE head of property, energy and marine Bob Algie will join the recently established Munich Re Specialty business in Australia.

As previously reported, former Lloyd’s regional director Chris Mackinnon joined Munich Re in April to set up the operation, which has authority to underwrite on both Munich Re Syndicate (Lloyd’s) and Great Lakes Australia paper.

“I am pleased to announce Bob Algie will be joining the team at Munich Re Specialty – Global Markets, Australia to lead the establishment of our property, construction and engineering underwriting team in the second half of 2026,” Mr Mackinnon wrote on LinkedIn.

“Bob brings over 20 years of experience in property product management across local and international insurers and underwriting agencies, and a demonstrated track record of execution, consistently delivering strong commercial and portfolio outcomes.”
