Chris Mackinnon will set up an Australian presence for insurer Munich Re Specialty after he leaves Lloyd’s next April.

He will return to Sydney from Singapore to become head of Munich Re Specialty in Australia. The business will have authority to underwrite on both Munich Re Syndicate (Lloyd’s) and Great Lakes Australia paper.

Munich Re Specialty is a division of Munich Re Group that offers specialty property and casualty products, including renewables, cyber, aviation and financial lines.

Mr Mackinnon is currently Lloyd’s regional director for Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa. He led the market’s Australian business for almost a decade before taking the wider regional role last year.  

His departure was announced last month, when a Lloyd’s spokesperson told insuranceNEWS.com.au he was leaving to pursue new opportunities.
