Markel Insurance has appointed Joanna Quigan as senior underwriter for professional and financial risks, expanding the business’ Victorian team.

Ms Quigan will report to professional and financial risks head Kym Beazleigh.

“Joanna’s appointment marks another milestone in our plan to hire strong talent across our three offices in Australia,” Mr Beazleigh said.

“She brings a wealth of product, management and strategic experience.”

Ms Quigan, based in Melbourne, will be responsible for developing and managing underwriting strategies for renewing and new business in the professional and financial risks book, with a particular focus on professional indemnity.

Previously, she was cyber product lead at Delta Insurance Group New Zealand, responsible for setting underwriting guidelines, product innovation and growth strategies.

Ms Quigan has also held senior management and product roles in New Zealand at Marsh McLennan and AIG.
