NTI supports truckie health studies

NTI is funding a research scholarship to examine the long-term health of truck drivers.

The fully funded PhD program at Monash University’s Accident Research Centre is open for applications. It involves a 3.5-year fixed-term appointment to be delivered through the National Truck Accident Research Centre.

The PhD candidate will lead the Driving Health Initiative, which examines the physical and mental health of professional drivers across the country.

NTI CEO Janelle Greene says the research will explore emerging health risks facing professional drivers and contribute to road safety.

“By funding this research, we’re aiming to deliver actionable insights that improve policy [and] workplace practices, and ultimately lead to safer, healthier outcomes for drivers.”

NTI already partners with the National Truck Accident Research Centre, the Accident Research Centre and the National Road Safety Partnership Program to produce the annual Major Accident Investigation Report on serious truck crashes.
