Marsh raises data centre project capacity

Global broker Marsh has added more capacity to its Nimbus insurance program, which launched last June to cover data centre construction in Australia, North America and Europe.

The facility now offers limits up to $US2.7 billion ($3.86 billion), inclusive of delay in start-up and business interruption coverage.

When it launched, it provided up to €1 billion ($1.71 billion) in construction all-risks coverage and up to €350 million ($600 million) in additional cover for delay in start-up.

“Demand for more powerful and efficient data centres is accelerating technological innovation, particularly around AI and machine learning,” Marsh global digital infrastructure leader Mike Mathews said. “Marsh is helping clients in this sector work with communities to develop business strategies that will enable them to grow sustainably.”

The Nimbus expansion comes as Marsh steps up its digital offerings. Last week the broker announced the launch of Digital Infrastructure Contract Advisory Group.

Marsh says the advisory group will help clients manage and streamline service contracts throughout the life cycles of their digital infrastructure assets.

“Contract reviews demand deep expertise, careful co-ordination and significant time investment, making them a complex and often burdensome process for our digital infrastructure clients, many of which do not have dedicated risk management teams to support the process,” Mr Mathews said.

“Our team of experienced contract specialists alleviates this burden for clients, delivering peace of mind while also enabling them to move at pace.”
