Marsh executive Alex Lumby will become Gallagher’s new CEO of Australian broking following the departure earlier this year of Sarah Lyons.

Ms Lyons moved to London to head up Gallagher’s specialty division, and Asia-Pacific MD Steve Lockwood led the business in Australia on an interim basis until a permanent replacement was found.

insuranceNEWS.com.au understands Mr Lumby – currently MD, head of Mercer Marsh Benefits Pacific and chief client officer for Marsh Pacific – will take up the Gallagher role in the new year.

He began his career in London before moving to Australia with Marsh in 2004. He held senior roles at Aon and JLT before returning to Marsh in 2019.
