Former Chubb chief launches court action
Chubb’s previous country president for Australia and New Zealand, Ben Howell, has begun proceedings in the Federal Court following his sudden exit from the company earlier this year.
As insuranceNEWS.com.au reported exclusively in April, staff were shocked to be informed the highly regarded Mr Howell had left the role. Chubb did not comment on the development, or the reasons behind it.
Federal Court listings show Mr Howell filed a breach of general protections Fair Work claim on Friday. A statement of claim, originating application and genuine steps statement have been submitted.
Mr Howell is represented by Harmers Workplace Lawyers, and Chubb Insurance Australia is listed as the respondent, along with some executives and board members.
Mr Howell’s representatives have not responded to requests for further information.
A Chubb spokesperson said today: “As the matter is before the court, it would be inappropriate to comment at this time.”
Mr Howell worked with Chubb for almost a decade, taking the top local role in September 2024.
