Zurich welcomes former exec back to the fold

Former Zurich executive Adrian Sweeney has rejoined the insurer as GM of New Zealand.

He replaces Brett Wainhouse, who recently became State Manager for Zurich Australia’s Victoria and Tasmania team.

Australia and New Zealand Head of General Insurance Alex Morgan says Mr Sweeney has a “strong breadth of global experience”, having previously held leadership roles across 25 years with the insurer.

He was head of operations for the London team between 2003 and 2005 and chief risk officer from 2005 to 2009. He later became chief underwriting officer for Asia-Pacific, from 2012 to 2017. During this time, he also took on underwriting portfolios for Zurich’s global corporate and commercial insurance operations.

After departing the company, Mr Sweeney joined RSA Insurance Group’s UK team as chief underwriting officer. Most recently, he served as underwriting manager for Delta Insurance, before taking a career break at the end of 2022.
