WFI on board for Tour de Cure charity ride
IAG-owned WFI Insurance will sponsor Tour de Cure’s next Signature Tour to raise funds for cancer prevention and treatment.
The eight-day cycling event – marking its 20th anniversary next year – will involve more than 140 participants riding 1408km from Canberra to Geelong and on to Hobart from March 12 to 21.
The tour allocates $10,000 each night to cancer initiatives passed along the route and engages with schools on sun safety.
WFI EGM Damien Gallagher says the partnership underscores the insurer’s commitment to supporting rural areas.
“We know for Australians living in rural and regional communities, access to cancer treatment can be challenging, often requiring travel away from home where support is limited,” he said.
“Signature Tour 2026 is a wonderful way to bring our people, clients, partners and the communities we support together for an important cause, and we look forward to visiting some of Australia’s most picturesque towns.”
This year’s Signature Tour raised more than $1.8 million over a nine-day journey from Airlie Beach to Port Douglas in Queensland in May and June.
Tour de Cure board member Mark Berretta hopes it will top $2 million next year.
“This is a special year as we honour the ride that started it all,” he said. “From humble beginnings to a national movement, our 20th-anniversary ride marks two decades of impact.”
