Sydney solicitor wins inaugural Gill award

Wotton + Kearney Solicitor Jessica Chapman has submitted the winning essay to take home the inaugural Gill Award. The award is organised by the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) to honour its co-founder, Michael Gill.

Ms Chapman focused her essay on the crypto-currency industry and the opportunities it provides to insurers globally. She wrote that the time has come for insurers to play a role to help the crypto-currency industry in areas of risk management and consumer protection.

She will receive $10,000 in prize money for winning the award and will attend an International Insurance Law Association (AIDA) event as well as present her paper to an AIDA working party.

Mr Gill co-founded AILA after attending the AIDA World Congress in London in 1982. He is a past president of AIDA, AILA life member and chairman of the National Insurance Brokers Association code compliance committee.
