Professionals to ‘push their limits’ at daring fundraiser

Insurance executives will take on thrilling challenges in this year’s CEO Dare to Cure fundraiser for the Children’s Cancer Institute.

So far, insurance professionals have raised more than $56,000 through the events, with QBE Group CEO Andrew Horton topping the contribution tally at $19,769.

Participants will include Zurich underwriting excellence and governance head Katrin Stoecker; Whitbread Insurance Group CEO Michael Giansiracusa; Xceedance Australia and New Zealand business leader Prateek Vijayvergia; and BAC Insurance Brokers COO Mitchell Lipscombe.

Heavy Motor Insurance Australia will also have a strong presence at this year’s challenges, with CEO Michael Zaknic, COO Victoria Takos, and chief partnership and client risk officer James Pasfield slated to take part.

The challenges will take place on October 17 in Melbourne and October 24 in Sydney, and two new dares have been introduced this year: the Wing of Fire Chilli Challenge; and the Daredevil Stunt Jump.

Children’s Cancer Institute marketing and fundraising director Anne Johnston says the event is a “unique and thrilling way for business leaders to step up and make a tangible difference in the lives of children with cancer. By taking on one of these challenges, these business leaders aren’t just pushing their own limits; they’re honouring the bravery that kids and their families who face a cancer diagnosis demonstrate every single day.”

The charity has raised $1.05 million this year and aims to surpass its total of $1.7 million from last year.
