Howden brings in Zurich veteran
Mervyn Rea has been appointed Pacific head of risk engineering at Howden.
Mr Rea previously spent almost 40 years at Zurich, finishing in March as head of risk engineering for Zurich Resilience Solutions Asia-Pacific. He began working with the insurer in Belfast in 1986.
“I am excited about bringing a unique brand of risk engineering expertise across multiple industry sectors, and building a premier risk consultancy and advocacy service,” he said.
Howden says Melbourne-based Mr Rea brings experience in risk across industries including manufacturing, food and beverage, road and rail transport and logistics, and mining.
“His career spans senior leadership roles in the insurance sector, and his customer engagement has resulted in positive impact in helping them mitigate, avoid and manage risk across property and assets, liability, safety and motor fleet,” the broking group said.
“He is known for his consistency in driving innovation, building new services and inspiring teams to adopt forward-thinking risk practices.”
