Familiar face returns as CFC puts ‘boots on ground’
Cyber specialist CFC says Gary Newson will return as management liability development manager for its Australian operation.
Mr Newson will run the SME management liability portfolio, which includes directors’ and officers’ cover, comprehensive liability for employment practices, fidelity coverage and protections for crisis management and corporate reputation.
He previously worked as a London-based underwriter for CFC between 2021 and 2023, before leaving for a position at WTW.
CFC specialty lines head Kate Lyes says the appointment comes as the company expands in Australia.
“We have successfully built our Australian portfolio over the past 10 years from London, and now is the perfect time to have boots on the ground in order to deliver a faster, more efficient service for our broker partners,” Ms Lyes said.
“[Mr Newson] is broker-centric, with the depth of experience needed in this challenging market where competition is fierce and the legal, political and regulatory landscape is ever-changing.”
She says he joins at an “exciting time” as the agency prepares to launch its policy wordings on new trading platform Connect in July.
CFC says the platform will allow for a streamlined service, including offerings with single-question quoting.
Mr Newson will be based in Perth.
