Canopius has appointed Micia Yong as Asia-Pacific property and specialty treaty head.  

Ms Yong joins the global (re)insurer from Gallagher Re, where she was Asia-Pacific strategic solutions executive director from 2022, leading key initiatives across its broking, agency and reinsurance development.

She was named Lloyd’s treaty broker of the year in 2023, and has also worked as a senior underwriter at Axis Capital and spent time at Munich Re.  

Ms Yong will be based in Singapore, reporting to Canopius Asia-Pacific, Middle East and North Africa leader Soon Keen Lee.

“[Ms Yong’s] track record in property treaty underwriting, along with her expertise in retro broking and structured reinsurance solutions, will be instrumental in advancing our reinsurance offering and supporting our growth ambitions in the region,” Ms Lee said.
