Canopius names casualty, financial lines leaders
Canopius has appointed Brodie English as head of casualty for Australia and New Zealand, and Rob Barnum as head of financial lines for the Asia-Pacific region.
Mr English, who joined Canopius three years ago, has held senior roles at Axa XL and Tokio Marine and has more than 15 years’ experience in casualty underwriting, complex risks and broker relationship management.
Mr Barnum has more than a decade of experience in financial lines underwriting and regional portfolio management. He joined Canopius about a year ago after holding senior roles at XL Catlin and Axis Capital.
The insurer says its Australia and New Zealand casualty structure is now more closely aligned with other regions and is focused on delivering two distinct product types – casualty and financial lines.
Craig Elliott, who has been Asia-Pacific head of casualty since 2023, is leaving the business.
“Canopius thanks Craig for his contributions and the strong foundation he helped to establish,” Canopius said.
Asia-Pacific, Middle East and North Africa CEO Soon Keen Lee says Mr English and Mr Barnum “bring an exceptional blend of technical expertise, market insight and leadership experience, and are ideally placed to lead our casualty and financial lines portfolios”.
