AFCA recruiting insurance ombudsman as Price set to step back

The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) is seeking a Lead Ombudsman - Insurance to take over the role later this year.

Current ombudsman John Price is set to retire from the position and continue in a part-time role from July, insuranceNEWS.com.au understands.

AFCA advertisements say the position will be located in Melbourne or Sydney and call for applicants with sound leadership and consultative skills and the ability to remain independent and impartial.

Candidates should also have good knowledge of financial services law and skills in dealing with a broad cross-section of the community and have analytical skills coupled with the ability to draft documents that explain complex legal concepts in a way that can be easily understood.

Mr Price was previously Lead Ombudsman - Insurance at the Financial Ombudsman Services, which was rolled into AFCA in 2018, and has more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry.
