Queensland broking body eyes membership growth

The Council of Queensland Insurance Brokers held its annual convention last week, with president Danny Brandon giving an update on the group’s work and priorities.

“We will continue work on the growth of the membership … and we have been able to achieve growth [across] our broker members and business partner members this year,” he said. “We continue to engage the broker and agency markets for the ultimate benefit of the insurance clients we advise.

“During difficult markets and economic cycles, our advice and coverage discussions are never more important. Our industry needs highly skilled brokers, underwriting and claims staff to ensure that businesses are best served and insured correctly.”

Mr Brandon, who is Regional Insurance Brokers GM, is in his third one-year term as president after re-election at the council’s annual general meeting last month.

The other board members are: VP Gary Fletcher (Apex Insurance); treasurer Tom Cullinan (Link Insurance Brokers); Andrew Griffiths (North Queensland Insurance Brokers); Don Tickle (Rivers Insurance Brokers); Sean Bemrose (Tony Bemrose Insurance Brokers); Andrew Hinz (Befor); and Chris Murfin (All Risk Protection Insurance Brokers).

Long-serving board members Ron Bellert and Heather Peirano retired after the AGM.
