Lloyd’s syndicate Probitas 1492 has created a commercial business division to support its growing Australian operation.

Country manager for Australia Max Broodryk says the group will launch products including medical indemnity, technology, combined liability, business package and management liability insurance.

“Probitas 1492 Pacific is growing,” he said on LinkedIn. “The creation of the … division recognises that the [new] products and the related distribution strategy need a dedicated focus and specialist resources, which is important to the way the business scales up to underwrite business for different industries and customer segments.”

He says Jane Mason, previously financial lines underwriting manager, has been appointed head of commercial business and Peter Yang will join as pricing and analytics manager.
