Lumby takes reins at Gallagher

Former Marsh executive Alex Lumby this week started work as Gallagher Australia CEO.

As reported exclusively by insuranceNEWS.com.au in September, Mr Lumby takes over from Sarah Lyons, who last year moved to London to head up Gallagher’s specialty division.

Mr Lumby was previously MD, head of Mercer Marsh Benefits Pacific and chief client officer for Marsh Pacific. He began his career in London before moving to Australia with Marsh in 2004. He held senior roles at Aon and JLT before returning to Marsh in 2019.

“Gallagher is thrilled to announce the commencement of Alex Lumby as CEO of Gallagher in Australia,” the broker said on LinkedIn this week.

“The whole team welcomes him to the business, excited for the experience, knowledge and leadership he will bring as we continue to deliver tailored insurance solutions, effective risk management strategies and a strategic approach to organisational wellbeing.

“Alex’s vision aligns perfectly with our commitment to protecting businesses, empowering people and fostering growth.

“Under his leadership, we’re confident Gallagher will continue to thrive and make an even greater impact for our clients, colleagues and communities worldwide.”

Mr Lumby says he is looking forward to “connecting with my team and their clients in all corners of the country in the coming weeks”.
