EBM eyes more growth after ‘extraordinary’ 50 years

EBM Group says it remains focused on “delivering client value” as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.

The privately owned brokerage began in 1975 as Elkington Bishop and Associates, founded by Neville Elkington and Alan Bishop above a pizza shop in suburban Perth.

In 1977, John Molineaux joined the pair and the business changed its name to Elkington Bishop Molineaux (EBM) Insurance Brokers.

EBM says the milestone this month is an “extraordinary achievement” in an industry that has experienced radical change and where listed companies and global powerhouses dominate.

“We look back with pride, and forward with continued ambition to build on our legacy,” executive chair Mr Bishop said.

“We’ve made sure we not only stayed ahead of the curve in a very dynamic industry but put ourselves in a position to influence change locally and extend our reach globally.”

EBM has nine branches across the country and 275 employees supporting a portfolio of 160,000 industry and personal clients.

“We have built specialist services that meet our clients where they are and, when existing solutions fall short, we have created new ones or gained access to new products through local and global strategic alliances,” Mr Bishop said.

CEO Ward Dedman added: “We aim to make every relationship we have count – whether that’s with our clients, markets and other partners, or within our own teams.”
