Angel flying high at decade milestone

Victoria-based Angel Insurance Brokers is celebrating its tenth anniversary.
The broker network, which founder Parveen Singroha started with just one colleague and one client, now has 20 employees and 2000 SME clients across Australia.
To mark its first decade, Angel recently hosted an anniversary event in Melbourne’s Docklands, attended by insurer partners, premium funders, and industry associates.
One long-serving employee was rewarded for completing 10 years of service with the company, by being promoted to GM and awarded a luxury family holiday, which Mr Singroha told insuranceNEWS.com.au reflects the firm’s commitment to its people.
Looking back over the firm’s first 10 years he said it has invested in technology to try to make its brokers lives easier and free up their time to deal with clients, but there is still a lot of administration – though AI would increasingly help with this.
He added that while the last decade had seen strong growth for the firm, the current economic climate was difficult.
“Things were easier 10 years ago, clients did not feel under pressure as they do now. Costs are high and some clients want to reduce cover, which can make it difficult to place the cover. Brokers need to balance both sides.”
But he was pleased with the firm’s progress and growth to date and is looking ahead.
“I took a chance – I didn’t know if I could be successful or not – hopefully our journey can be an inspiration to others who want to start a business.”
