Insurers visit hail-hit community
People in Clifton and nearby areas of southeast Queensland affected by a severe hailstorm last November can speak to their insurers at an event hosted by the industry peak body.
The Insurance Council of Australia says the two-day session will allow people to discuss outstanding claims or lodge new ones.
Representatives from ICA and the Australian Financial Complaints Authority will also be available to answer questions about claims processes and dispute resolution pathways, and provide practical insurance information.
“It has been almost 12 months since Clifton and the surrounding region was impacted by a severe thunderstorm that left widespread damage to homes, businesses and motor vehicles,” ICA director of mitigation and extreme weather response Liam Walter said.
“Insurers returning to the region to meet with policyholders in person is part of our commitment to helping resolve outstanding claims and supporting those who are still recovering.
“We encourage anyone with an outstanding claim, or questions about their claim, to come along and speak directly with their insurer.”
The consultations are at Clifton Senior Citizens Centre on October 26 and 27 from 10am-4pm. Bookings are not required.
