Brooksight warns on rise in staged motor claims
Brooksight Investigations is holding specialised training for its national team amid a rise in staged motor accidents designed to defraud insurers.
It warns Australia is experiencing an increase in complex, fraudulent incidents involving organised syndicates, false witness accounts and manipulated damage.
Brooksight says it is a leader in staged accident detection and a key partner to insurers facing increasingly sophisticated frauds.
Its investigators are taught to ask the right questions in interviews, identify patterns of collusion and provide insights early in the investigation before claims escalate.
CEO Ryan Lysaught says the team has access to expert knowledge on how vehicles behave in real collisions, bringing “unmatched experience” from managing national investigation units at major insurers.
COO Nerida Batzloff, operations manager Louise Johnson and education and training officer Steve Maronese have built “a next-level training environment”, Mr Lysaught says.
“That connection between forensic science and front-line investigation is one of our greatest strengths.”
Investigators are coached on how to structure interviews to build a clearer understanding of the circumstances surrounding a crash, strengthening the evidence available to insurers, Mr Lysaught adds.
