Insurers will again travel to parts of regional Victoria affected by summer bushfires as new figures reveal the event produced 4852 claims totalling $598.6 million.

The Insurance Council of Australia says the consultations in Harcourt, Alexandra and Euroa will make insurers available for people to discuss the progress of their claims and work through outstanding issues.

Insurers at the sessions include Auto & General (Budget Direct, ING, Qantas Insurance, Virgin Money); Hollard; QBE/Elders; RACV Insurance; CGU/WFI; and Suncorp (AAMI, GIO, Apia, Shannons).

Representatives from ICA and the Australian Financial Complaints Authority will also be available.

“This is not insurers’ first time visiting these communities for consultations of this nature and it will likely not be our last,” ICA director of mitigation and extreme weather response Liam Walter said.

“I encourage impacted policyholders to make an appointment.”

Consultations will be held on September 15 at the Harcourt Leisure Centre, with Anglicare Victoria and Rural Financial Counselling Victoria West present; September 16 at Alexandra Shire Hall; and September 17 at the Euroa Recovery Hub, with Primary Care Connect attending.
