Aon tool reveals data centre risk exposure
Aon says a new risk aggregator will help insurers gain a clearer view of digital infrastructure exposures as investment in data centres accelerates.
The Digital Infrastructure Risk Aggregator helps clients identify concentration risk, benchmark market positions and form underwriting, reinsurance and capital strategies.
“Digital infrastructure is creating meaningful opportunity for insurers, but profitable growth depends on the ability to understand exposure at a portfolio level,” Aon global client leader for reinsurance Dave Nicholson said.
The tool provides a structured approach to understanding data centre and wider digital infrastructure risks, and helps insurers identify where they may be over- or underparticipating relative to market opportunity, and how specific assets or operators affect portfolio volatility or reinsurance strategy.
Aon says the aggregator helps insurers move from individual asset reviews to a more consistent portfolio view and can highlight a single data centre campus carrying insured values above market benchmarks, showing how that outlier affects accumulation.
The aggregator is delivered quarterly and helps clients monitor changing exposures in evolving portfolios and “seize market opportunities”.
