RACQ forms Advocacy department

RACQ has appointed Joshua Cooney to head a new Advocacy department and is looking to hire sustainability and government relations and policy leaders as part of the team.

Member and Community General Executive MJ Bellotti says the department will help achieve RACQ’s 2030 vision as it provides solutions to live and move securely and sustainably.

“The new Advocacy team brings together the resources of insurance business resilience, public policy, government relations, foundation, community sponsorship, education and sustainability,” Ms Bellotti told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“It will be responsible for developing and executing focused campaigns which bring a stronger voice to the issues that matter to Queenslanders, including our almost 1.8 million members, while also driving RACQ’s journey to net zero.”

Mr Cooney was previously RACQ Head of Insurance Business Resilience. Before joining RACQ he held senior public policy roles at Suncorp.

The Head of Sustainability role now being advertised includes working with the business and external stakeholders on environmental sustainability, climate change action and building natural hazard resilience.

The Head of Government Relations and Policy role includes positively influencing the political, policy and regulatory environment in which RACQ operates across insurance, banking, assistance and social impact.
