Marsh brings in climate risk specialist

Global broker Marsh has appointed Jacob Fitzroy as its first climate and sustainability risk consulting leader for the Pacific region.

Mr Fitzroy joins from Deloitte, where he was a director in the climate and sustainability practice.

Marsh says the position was created to meet growing demand for practical, commercially relevant advice supporting resilience and informed decision-making amid physical, financial and operational risks driven by climate change.

Mr Fitzroy will report to Graeme Riddell, Marsh Risk’s climate and sustainability risk consulting leader for Asia and Pacific.

“Organisations are no longer asking whether climate risk will affect them. Instead, they’re questioning whether they’re prepared to respond,” Marsh said. “Jacob will work with colleagues and clients across the Pacific to help organisations move from climate exposure to action: understanding their risk, pricing it right and capturing competitive advantage.

Mr Fitzroy added: “Climate risk is no longer something organisations can consider in isolation or leave for the future.

“It is already influencing the decisions they make today, where they invest, how they operate and how they prepare for uncertainty. I’m looking forward to helping clients make sense of that complexity and take practical steps to become more resilient.”

Mr Fitzroy was at Deloitte for four years. Before that he was a strategic adviser in professional services firm Jacobs’ climate response team.
