Marsh NZ chief to depart

Marsh New Zealand CEO Toni Ferrier will step down at the end of the month, the broker said today.

Ms Ferrier, also Marsh Risk NZ president, joined the company from AIG in early 2024 and is based in Auckland.

“Toni has been a highly respected leader at Marsh New Zealand,” the business said in a LinkedIn post. “We’re grateful for her contributions and we wish her all the best for the future.”

Marsh Risk NZ executive chairman Matthew Riddle will step-in as interim president. He has 30 years’ experience across the sector, including serving as JLT New Zealand CEO from 2010 until its acquisition in 2019.

“From supply chain interruptions, maritime and geopolitical challenges to AI, emerging technologies and climate risks, this is a profound time of challenge for clients,” Mr Riddle said.

“Our work at Marsh continues to help our New Zealand clients grow and thrive.”

Ms Ferrier, a qualified lawyer, was previously CEO of AIG New Zealand for four years and has held leadership roles at Vero, Lumley/Wesfarmers and Crombie Lockwood.

She is an Insurance Council of New Zealand past president and was a commissioner with the Earthquake Commission for almost two years.

Marsh Pacific CEO David Bryant thanked Ms Ferrier for her leadership, adding: “Our New Zealand business has strong foundations and is well positioned for transformation and growth.”
