Funeral to honour Tim Wedlock’s ‘extraordinary contribution’
The funeral service for broking leader Tim Wedlock, who was honoured last week with a posthumous lifetime achievement award, will be held in Sydney later this month.
“Following the sudden and tragic passing of our executive chairman, Tim Wedlock, it is now time to celebrate his life and remember the amazing memories we created together,” AEI Insurance Broking Group said in a LinkedIn post today.
The service will be held at noon on Sunday August 30 at the Knox Grammar School Great Hall, which can host about 2000 people. It will also be live-streamed via Gregory & Carr Funerals.
“We recognise that many people across our business, industry and wider community may wish to attend,” AEI said. “Equally, we understand that work, family, travel and other commitments may make it difficult for some to be there in person.”
In accordance with the family’s wishes, the wake will be a private gathering for family and close friends, with attendance by invitation.
Former National Insurance Brokers Association president Mr Wedlock died while on holiday in Nashville, US, when an elderly driver allegedly ran a red light and hit him and other pedestrians.
“We hope the service provides an opportunity for all who knew Tim to come together and honour the extraordinary contribution he made to us all and to so many lives,” AEI said.
The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance said at its awards ceremony last week that Mr Wedlock had invested deeply in mentoring others, developing future leaders and championing insurance as a rewarding profession.
“His influence can be seen in the profession he helped strengthen, the emerging professionals he championed and the countless people whose careers and lives he touched along the way,” the association said.
