Eclipse names new boss as co-founders reshape leadership

Thomas Haegi has been promoted to CEO at underwriting agency Eclipse Group.

He has been property manager at the business for four years and was previously Axa’s NSW property underwriting manager.

Sydney-based Mr Haegi “has been an integral part of our leadership team, demonstrating exceptional vision”, Eclipse said.

“Under his guidance, we are confident in our ability to accelerate innovation, enhance operational efficiency and expand our impact across the industry.”

Co-founder and director Tim McMahon will become Eclipse Group Holdings executive chairman, and fellow co-founder and director Craig Brokenshire will step back from day-to-day business.

Sydney-based Mr Brokenshire was formerly COO at Aon and JLT Re.

The restructure is “designed to position us for continued success in the years ahead”, Eclipse said. “Craig’s drive and enthusiasm have been key to getting us to where we are today – founding Eclipse and helping it reach such amazing heights in a short time.

“This comes off the back of five years of solid growth and the company’s evolution from a start-up into a more established, mature business.”

Eclipse says Mr McMahon and Mr Brokenshire decided “at a pub in London in 2019 to create an organisation that uses the best of new technology, data and actuarial science to ... bring a refreshing approach to underwriting.

“Our goal is to challenge the traditional legacy processes, practices and technologies to create a unique customer-first experience.”

Melbourne-based Mr McMahon was formerly Axa global CUO for short tail in London. He also spent time at AIG and Vero in Australia and New Zealand.
