Rhodian launches marine agency
Agencies incubator Rhodian Group today announced the launch of Marinex Underwriting, offering marine products for the Australian market.
The underwriting agency will start with cargo, carriers, commercial hull and marine liability products, backed by Lloyd’s and Canopius.
“We are thrilled to unveil Marinex to the market,” the new agency’s CEO Chris Kelly said. “Understanding the complexities of marine insurance, we know the importance of having a trusted partner with specialised expertise.”
Rhodian, backed by US specialty products and services distributor Amwins, was formed early last year to provide support services for start-up underwriting agencies.
It has already launched two agencies – property and liability specialist Halo Underwriting in July last year and accident and health specialist Batch Underwriting in January.
Mr Kelly, along with Ainsley Smith and Janelle Karnib, co-founded Marinex under a shared equity arrangement with Rhodian.
Rhodian Group CEO Simon Lightbody says Marinex “marks an exciting step forward in our mission to offer unparalleled underwriting expertise across multiple sectors”.
Ms Smith says the business has a “clear vision and a strong team … our goal is to quickly establish Marinex as the go-to marine underwriting agency in Australia”.
Ms Karnib, who is national relationship manager, said: “Our commitment to broker service has not only shaped our business structure, but also created the backbone of our culture as an agency.”
