Petcover ‘consolidates in UK’ with Reach deal

Petcover Group has acquired Reach Financial Services, owner of the brand Cover My, expanding its customer base in Britain to more than 140,000.

Reach, previously owned by Totemic Group, launched Cover My Pet insurance for cats and dogs in December 2020, covering vet fees, thefts or straying and holiday cancellation, and offering flexible excess levels.

Petcover CEO Andy Pearce says the group’s customers asked for additional products and “Reach fits the brief perfectly”.

“It consolidates our position in the UK pet market and enables us to offer additional products to our rapidly growing customer base,” he said.

Petcover operates in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, India and southeast Asia and already owns UK brands Julie Andrews Horse Insurance, British Pet Insurance, Exotic Direct, Brooks Braithwaite (Sussex) and Crowe Livestock Underwriting Services. Its Plus business provides capacity and claims services.

Reach Financial Services Operations Director Freddie Kingham says the sale brings an increase in product lines, distribution, support and resources.

Petcover MD Doug Ford says his team will bring its insurance knowledge and experience to enhance the well-established Reach operation.

“This expands our product range and is an exciting opportunity for us to support our customers further,” he said. “Our aim has always been to take our many years of experience and success in the broker and pet insurance market as far as possible.”

Petcover is experiencing “amazing growth, with award after award recognising our hard work and professionalism”, he says.
