MGA buys Melbourne brokerage

Capital Mutual Insurance Brokers’ operations will be integrated into the MGA Insurance Group network under an acquisition that takes effect on November 17.

The Melbourne brokerage was founded in 1990 and specialises in general insurance, financial services and workers’ compensation, according to LinkedIn. It is led by principals Penny Collins and Seamus Hounihan.

MGA MD Paul George said: “We are very pleased to welcome Penny, Seamus and the entire Capital Mutual team to the MGA family; their professionalism, experience and client-first approach make them a perfect fit for our group.

“We look forward to a successful partnership and continued growth together.”

MGA has 40 offices across Australia and serves more than 65,000 clients. It says the deal will give Capital Mutual clients access to a wider range of insurers and products, and improved service.

Ms Collins and Mr Hounihan said: “We’re thrilled to partner with MGA. Their national strength, innovation and client-first values align perfectly with Capital Mutual’s philosophy.

“Together, we’ll deliver even greater value and capability.”
