Grant Cairns to take the reins at AIG Australia in November

Melbourne-based Grant Cairns has been appointed AIG Australia CEO and Head of Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), effective from November.

Mr Cairns has spent 20 years at Chubb, most recently as Head of Property and Casualty, Asia Pacific.

He was formerly based in Singapore as Private Equity Industry Practice Leader, Chubb International and Head of Financial Lines, APAC, and in London as Head of Financial Lines UK and Ireland. He also spent six years in Sydney as local Financial Lines Manager.

As local CEO, Mr Cairns will report to AIG Asia Pacific Regional President Chris Colahan, who replaced Singapore-based veteran Steven Barnett in April and is also based in Melbourne.

“We are thrilled he is joining AIG,” Mr Colahan said. “He has a proven track record for delivering profitable growth, driving customer service excellence, and aligning high performing teams.”

The appointment comes after former AIG Australia CEO Nigel Fitzgerald departed at the end of March to join Steadfast as COO.
