Ex-AMP chief joins Zurich board
Zurich Financial Services says former AMP CEO Alexis George has joined as an independent non-executive director following the resignation of John Mulcahy.
Ms George took up the role on August 10 and is also on the boards of Zurich’s general and life insurance entities.
Chair Geoff Summerhayes says Ms George brings “exceptional depth and breadth of experience to the role and her insights will be invaluable as the organisation continues to grow and evolve across Australia and New Zealand”.
Ms George was AMP CEO for more than four years until March. She has more than 30 years’ financial services experience, including leadership roles at ANZ and ING Group.
“I am very pleased to be joining Zurich at such an important time,” she said. “The business is growing rapidly and occupies a unique position as Australia’s only major composite insurer – offering both life and general insurance products.
“Zurich is making considered investments in a number of core capabilities, including technology, partnerships and its people. I look forward to contributing to that journey.”
