Descartes Underwriting head of north Asia and Australia Ben Qin has taken a new role as head of Asia-Pacific.

He will oversee the parametric specialist’s operations across all markets in the region, including Australia.

Descartes co-founder and chief insurance officer Sebastien Piguet says Mr Qin “has been pivotal in Descartes’ expansion ... I am therefore delighted to work with him and the entire APAC team to further grow our relationship with brokers and clients in the region.”

Mr Qin joined the business in 2021, leading the establishment of the Sydney operation, followed by the launch of Hong Kong and Tokyo offices two years later.

Head of business development for Australia and New Zealand Lynn Roehrig is responsible for local operations and reports to Mr Qin.
