Adica joins fraud-fighting project
Adica Insurance is a founding member of an industry fraud analytics and detection platform that is under development.
The Insurance Council of Australia says implementation of the ICINA Aurora project – announced with Shift Technology and EXL last November – is under way, with an initial focus on motor cover fraud.
Participating insurers are working through the legal, privacy, security and data requirements needed to support the platform, a spokesperson told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
“We welcome Adica’s participation as a member,” the spokesperson said. “Discussions with other insurers are continuing and further participants will be announced with their agreement.”
Adica says the initiative will strengthen the industry’s response to fraud through enhanced data sharing and collaboration, helping to disrupt serious and organised crime while better protecting policyholders.
“Fraudulent activities are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and our response must evolve alongside it,” Adica CRO and general counsel Andrea Gardiner said on LinkedIn.
“Joining Aurora as a founding member reflects Adica’s commitment to using data and intelligence to detect and prevent fraudulent activity.”
The insurer says it will continue working closely with ICA to prepare the platform for “go-live”.
Adica, the trading name of Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Company Australia, specialises in motor cover. The business is part of Japan’s MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings.
