AIG’s local chief set to leave
AIG says its Australia CEO Grant Cairns has resigned “to pursue a different path in the industry”, with the insurer’s client and broker engagement head stepping up to lead the business.
Mr Cairns was appointed to the role in July 2023, joining from Chubb – where he was head of property and casualty for Asia-Pacific – and reporting to AIG’s regional president for Asia-Pacific, Chris Colahan.
“He has a proven track record for delivering profitable growth, driving customer service excellence, and aligning high performing teams,” Mr Colahan said at the time.
Head of client and broker engagement Kathleen Warden has been appointed GM Australia, effective immediately, but subject to regulatory approval.
A note to staff seen by insuranceNEWS.com.au says Ms Warden will report to Mr Colahan and “lead our Australian business with a focus on driving growth and sustaining a high-performance culture”.
She joined AIG in 2023 and “has been pivotal in embedding stronger sales disciplines, connecting the business across product lines and elevating the profile of AIG in the market”.
GM New Zealand Liam Pomfret will now report direct to Mr Colahan and continue to serve on the Asia-Pacific leadership team.
insuranceNEWS.com.au understands Mr Cairns’ departure date is yet to be confirmed.
