Zurich says its new head of claims excellence for Australia and New Zealand will play a pivotal role accelerating investment in technology such as artificial intelligence.

Morris Garsin will take up the position in August. He has spent the past four years at Suncorp, most recently as head of complex natural hazard home claims.

Zurich chief claims officer for Australia and New Zealand Matt Paterson said: “We are already seeing AI provide significant benefits across claims management time frames, vulnerable customer identification and data processing.

“Morris will be responsible for ensuring we uphold and continually improve Zurich’s customer-centric claims approach, which centres on care and empathy.”  

Sydney-based Mr Garsin has previously held senior roles at icare NSW, HCF Australia, Greenstone Financial Services and ANZ.
